It's been a LONG time coming, but we've finally got the GREEN LIGHT & a definitive start date for our summer beach volleyball leagues in 2020...
ALL YOUTH & ADULT LEAGUES will commence during the WEEK OF JULY 26 (and will still be 10 weeks in length).
For leagues in which we still have space, registration deadlines have been extended until JULY 22.
While Stage 3 opens for much of the province on July 17 at midnight, time is still needed to draw up site-specific safety plans and protocols before municipalities, partners, & facility providers can grant permits.  They - like us - have been unable to effectively prepare during the past few weeks because Stage 3 of Ontario's reopening contains entirely new requirements, limits, and guidelines.  This time is also required so conveners, coaches, & players understand the new protocols, and so we can ensure that we're GETTING THIS RIGHT for the benefit of all stakeholders and our communities at large.
We all win if the numbers keep heading in the right direction, so here are a few of the key protocols we're implementing for Invado beach leagues in 2020:
  • staff/players must stay home if they are sick or have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19
  • mandatory daily health assessment prior to playing (electronic, quick, & convenient)
  • league numbers capped below capacity to assist with social distancing
  • staggered time slots, where appropriate, in order to minimize number of players on the sand at the same time
  • equipment sanitized before, during, and after games
  • players/staff requested to bring personal hand sanitizer as required (to avoid cross-contamination from shared bottles)
  • attendees must wash/sanitize hands before/during/after time slots
  • players are encouraged to wear masks off the courts and/or ensure that social distancing (2m apart) protocols are being followed - even when warming up
  • players must arrive and leave the courts as close to game start & end times
  • players are not to share water bottles or other personal items
  • handshakes, hive fives, huddles and other unnecessary & deliberate contact between players is not permitted
  • 8m x 8m courts will be used for 2's leagues...9m x 18m courts will used for both 4's & 6's leagues (to allow for easier social distancing)

As we transition through new Stages/Phases and information continues to evolve, up-to-date information on the protocols we're following can always be found at Ontario Volleyball's "Return to Play' Resource Page

So, if you haven't signed-up to play yet, please feel free to do so within the next few days.  Several leagues have already sold out and several others are nearly full.
Thanks, once again, for your patience and support over the past few months.  We've seen the absolute best of 'Invado Nation' throughout all of the uncertainty & unpredictability...and, while we still have a few hurdles left, we'll continue to do all we need to in order to get YOUR leagues back up & running in the safest & most appropriate way possible.
See you in the sand!
